Overview
Qualified physiotherapists can upgrade their skills and advance their professional practice through the Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy MSc. The course has two pathways; university-based modules with a musculoskeletal focus or the Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy (MACP) pathway developed with IFOMPT. Participants can build a study program to suit their profession by choosing option module(s) to develop their advanced evaluative and problem-solving skills for the examination, assessment, and treatment of musculoskeletal dysfunction. The course leader can help you decide the best pathway and course of study depending on your clinical experience and professional registration status.
Course structure
The School of Health Sciences offers two pathways for postgraduate study in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy: MSK and MACP. Both options can be pursued part-time or full-time.
The MSK pathway involves a selection of university-based modules with a musculoskeletal focus.
The MACP pathway, endorsed by the Musculoskeletal Associations of Chartered Physiotherapists (MACP) and the International Federation Manipulative of Physical Therapists (IFOMPT), includes two clinical placements and requires registration with the Health and Care Professional Council (HCPC) to practice in the UK. Careers
At the Masters’s level, education is a key factor for advanced and specialized practice. It enables graduates to have more autonomy and speed up their professional and personal progress or career advancement.
The program helps develop professional and academic skills, allowing students to pursue research or teaching roles at institutions of higher learning and broaden and develop their clinical practice.
Those who complete the course can get a Postgraduate Diploma and a Postgraduate Certificate.
