Overview

The School of Health Sciences offers a postgraduate portfolio with the MSc Nursing program as part of it. This portfolio allows students to gain credits through continuous professional development modules, a postgraduate certificate, a postgraduate diploma, or a master’s degree. On successful completion of 180 postgraduate module credits, the MSc Nursing award is granted.

This program encourages professional nurses to enhance their knowledge and develop nursing within their specialist areas. It covers the four essential elements of professional nursing at an advanced level and provides a strong basis for further developing nursing careers. Those looking to become specialist nurses, manager nurses, educators, or researchers would benefit greatly from the MSc Nursing program.

Led by a dedicated nursing staff, the MSc Nursing is part of the larger School of Health Sciences team of healthcare experts. All teaching is underpinned by research-informed evidence and, where applicable, enhanced by a multi-professional approach.

Small cohorts and interactive sessions promote the development of critical thinking, problem-solving, communication, interpersonal relations, teamwork, team leadership, and lifelong learning skills, all valued by employers. This helps cultivate a sense of academic rigor in students and provides a learning experience that facilitates the discovery and engagement of various perspectives, ideas, and backgrounds.

This MSc Nursing Programme exposes nurses to essential topics and concepts related to communication, leadership, education, and research. Its modular structure allows nurses to hone in on their field of interest, while the dissertation module provides an avenue for in-depth exploration of their chosen subject. The full-time degree can typically be completed in 12 months.
